Lekki Toll Gate Killing Report, Lai Mohammed Should Apologize To Nigerians

Despite what the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed did to dispel rumors that demonstrators were killed at the Lekki Toll Gate on the 20th October 2020, the truth about what transpired there has been revealed.
Recall that Lai Mohammed accused CNN of misleading Nigerians with its broadcast in November 2020, saying that the international news company suppressed footage of armed hoodlums storming the Lekki Toll Gate and shooting at unarmed protesters that fateful day.
In January this year, Lai Mohammed threatened to stop speaking unless Amnesty International could present proof that 12 protesters were killed following the shooting at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020.
According to the report issued out by the judicial panel set up by the Lagos State government to investigate the shooting incident, soldiers fired and killed protesters on that fateful day, even though some of them were waving the Nigerian flag and singing National Anthem.
Many organizations and individuals have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to remove and imprison Lai Mohammed for attempting to hide the truth regarding the incident at the Lekki Toll Gate.
Lai Mohammed has been alleged to have lied to Nigerians and the rest of the world, according to them. They said he didn’t deserve to keep the ministerial post as a result of that.
If Lai Mohammed has an important reason to deny that protesters were killed at the Lekki Toll Gate, he ought to explain it.
If there was a willful attempt to cover up for those who perpetrated the crime and misled Nigerians, he should be sacked.
It is time for a public apology. Now that the finding of the panel has been made public, Lai Mohammed should apologize to Nigerians particularly the families of those killed at the Toll Gate. Nigerians will be aware that he has been remorseful and willing to make amends for his actions.
