Nigerian social-political activist and co-convener of ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ movement, Aisha Yesufu has said that there’s no difference between the government that attacked those who participated in the 2012 protest against subsidy removal and the one that sent soldiers to shoot people at Lekki-Toll-Gate during the EndSARS protest.
Aisha Yesufu made this statement while reacting to claims by some Jonathan supporters that his administration was better than the current administration in terms of obeying the fundamental rights of people.
In a post that she shared on her verified Twitter page on Wednesday evening, Aisha Yesufu said that, there is no difference between the government that attacked those who participated in the 2012 protest against subsidy removal and the government that send soldiers to shoot at people at Lekki-Toll-Gate during the EndSARS protests in 2020.
Recall in January 2012, hundreds of demonstrators in Nigeria’s commercial capital Lagos shut the petrol stations, formed human barriers along with motor ways and hijacked buses in protest against the shock doubling of fuel prices after the government subsidy was removed.
